On Friday, 18th of November, students from the Psychology of Emotion class conducted a field study on ‘mindfulness’. During the session, the students joined a mindfulness workshop by a community named MyndfulAct. This workshop aimed to focus on what’s going on in an individual’s self and being relaxed when facing any situation. The people from MyndfulAct are experienced in teaching mindfulness as they deliver their ideas about mindfulness in this activity. The first session consisted of a journaling activity where participants wrote about what they would do if their friends needed help and what they would do if they needed help.
Consequently, they also brought up a topic related to changes, such as what would change if we treated ourselves the way we treated our friends when they needed help. Afterward, they meditated and reflected on their thoughts and actions with guidance from the community. Later, the participants shared their ideas about what they wrote in their journals and expressed their views about mindfulness meditation. They had a follow-up session consisting of compassion and journaling, followed by another meditation session. They ended the first session with ice-breaking to refresh their minds.
The second session is delivered by a community that is also related to MyndfulAct named Komunitas Konco Eling Konco Healing (KKEKH). They shared their experiences in the community and what led them to join it. Afterward, they wrapped up their sessions by reflecting on the activity and linking it to the act of mindfulness.
